The subtle ways of fury
how the smallest action can cause the biggest disruption.

You send well wishes and gifts
when it’s good and obvious
and acceptable to whoever is looking.

“But this could have killed her.”

Every day I wake up, I survive myself
and the way she can hate me for no good reason at all.
Hate makes people do evil things.

She is really the cast-off of your disappointments,
your wishes for life to mold to your needs,
and my wish to put an ocean between me and your mistakes —
but I can’t escape what returns my regard in the mirror.
